Hazzan Louis “Labish” Goldman grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, where his family has been involved at Congregation B’nai Amoona for four generations.
In his twenties, he served as choir director at B’nai Amoona. This experience served as a springboard to his adult Jewish learning, and since that time, he has been eager to learn and do more and more.
In St. Louis, he tutored B’nai Mitzvah students; led High Holiday davening at B’nai Amoona; would frequently chant Torah and Haftarah; and was part of a core group of individuals who served as Shlichei Tzibbur at Nusach Hari B’nai Zion. In addition, he served on the Adult Education Committee at Nusach Hari B’nai Zion, where he had the opportunity to teach classes on reading Hebrew, davening, and more.
Since moving to Windermere with his family almost four years ago, he and his family have become increasingly involved in congregational life at SOJC. Hazzan Labish looks forward to the many opportunities we will have to learn and grow together.
